November 28 @ 7:00 pm10:00 pm

Free

The Society continues its program of support for an annual visiting lecturer through the Centre for Scottish Studies at the University of Guelph and the School of Celtic Studies at St Michael’s College in the University of Toronto. We are delighted to announce that this year’s lecture will take place at  The Coop, Brennan Hall (North end), at St Michael’s College in Toronto on Tuesday, 28 November, 2017 at 7:00pm.  (Further details are on the poster.)

This year the Centre for Scottish Studies has arranged for the renowned Gaelic scholar and musician Gillebrìde MacMillan from the University of Glasgow to give the lecture. MacMillan is also notable for his appearance as Gwyllyn the Bard on the popular television series Outlander, based on the novels by Diana Gabaldon.  He will be speaking on the subject of Gaelic song collecting in a talk entitled:

‘Gaelic song collecting and collectors in the Outer Hebrides: A historical perspective and present day opportunities’

Do mark your calendars and join us for what promises to be an illuminating discussion of Gaelic music and tradition.

Free admission – all welcome.
