The Scottish Studies “Oor Club” Event

October 5 @ 11:30 am2:00 pm

Join us at the “Oor Club” on Friday, October 5, when Donna Jean MacKinnon will present a lively slide show featuring pictures of her six-day hike in northern England along the course of Hadrian’s Wall built by the Romans around AD 122 and which runs from the banks of the River Tyne near the North Sea to the Solway Firth on the Irish Sea, marking northern limit of the Roman Empire. The odyssey started at Donna Jean’s Toronto book club when she mentioned she fancied walking Hadrian’s Wall. Immediately, five other women signed up. Their motto became “Blistered, battered, but unbowed!”

The cost to attend Oor Club is by way of a $10 donation to the Scottish Studies Foundation. Wide selections of pub lunches are available, typically costing between $5 and $15. The gathering begins at about 11.30 am and usually ends by about 2 pm. Everyone is welcome and pleased be assured that you do not have to be Scottish to attend!

For more information you can telephone Pearl Grieve-Nixon at 416-926-7233. or you can email the Foundation at admin@nullscottishstudies.com.
